LightReel 2026 concludes with W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel with a Cause, a powerful and illuminating portrait of one of the most influential intellectuals and activists in American history.
Narrated by Viola Davis and featuring voices including Jeffrey Wright, Common, and Courtney B. Vance, the film brings Du Bois’ legacy into sharp focus while exploring his enduring impact on culture, politics, and global thought.
The Black Butterfly Awards
Before the final screening, LightReel will present its top honors, including The Black Butterfly, recognizing outstanding achievement across narrative features, documentaries, shorts, and screenplays.
The Festival Jury will celebrate the artists and storytellers whose work has defined this year’s festival.
